To all Labour CLPs in Surrey from County Cllr Robert Evans (firstname.lastname@example.org)
I attach below an invitation to an event at County Hall for prospective County Cllrs.
I am sure there will be candidates who are interested and I would be grateful if you could circulate it widely.
On another but related issue, I have already spoken at several Surrey CLPs about the 2017 elections but if there are any others who would welcome my input on the state of affairs and how we might campaign next year, please let me know.
Dear Prospective Councillor,
You may have already decided to stand for election to Surrey County Council in May 2017, or you may as yet be unsure whether to take this step. I hope we can help you make this decision, and answer any questions you may have about life as a councillor, by inviting you to County Hall for an open evening on Monday 20 February 2017.
Registration will open at 16:30, with refreshments served until the event begins at 17:00. The evening will be focused on the practicalities of being a councillor at Surrey. You will hear about what it’s like to be a Member here and what support mechanisms are in place to help you once elected. At the end of the event, it will be possible for those of you planning to stand for a particular political group to meet with the Group Leader.
We are able to accommodate 100 candidates at this event. To register for a place, please click here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/prospective-councillors-event-tickets-30027749808
Whether or not you are able to attend this event, I would encourage you to visit the following page on our website: Surrey County Council – Surrey County Council elections 2017 . Here you will find valuable information about the elections, the county council and about being a Member.
We look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Basham (Senior Manager – Leadership and Member Support) on 020 8541 9133.
