We’re Hungry!

A number of members are asking for your help on behalf of the food banks in Walton.

Yes food banks in Walton, part of Elmbridge, one of the richest areas in the world – ridiculous isn’t it? Unbelievable but true – hunger doesn’t care where you live.

After we have stuffed ourselves full with copious amounts of food, on the 10th December, that, fortunately, we can afford, we have arranged to deliver much needed items to the food banks. Below is a list of items specifically requested by the Walton food bank and if you are attending the lunch please bring what you can to add to the pile we hope to have.

If you aren’t coming but wish to donate something please deliver it to either Waitrose, Hersham or Sainsburys, Walton, both receiving areas are at the front of the store, in Sainsburys case near Starbucks. Alternatively the food bank donation point is at  Faulkners Road, Hersham, Surrey KT12 5JB – Open Wednesdays 10-12pm.

They accept any non-perishable food but are particularly keen on:

Urgently needed food items :

  • Tinned meat
  • Christmas puddings
  • Tinned puddings
  • Selection boxes
  • Mince pies
  • Biscuits
  • Chocolates
  • Savoury snacks
  • Crackers toiletries
  • Cleaning ‘Stuff

They’ve got plenty of:

Baked beans, Tinned fish, Porridge, Pasta.

The food banks are open at St Peter’s Church, Burwood Road, Hersham, Surrey, KT12 4AA on Mondays 1500-1700 Tuesdays 1400-1600 or St John’s Church, The Furrows (Off Ambleside Avenue), Walton on Thames, Surrey, KT12 3JQ on Thursdays 1100-1300 Fridays 1100-1300.

Below is a list of members who have agreed to happily accept donations up to the 9th December. You can drop items off at these addresses.

  • Jackie Andrews 14 The Grove
  • Sarah Adams 35 Bowes Road
  • Sue Cooper 194 Terrace Road
  • Sue Hill 5 Bishops Hill

Please give generously, it could be you telling your children that they will have baked beans, again, for Christmas lunch and, of course, no presents. You can make a difference, please show that we have a conscience and are not just looking for votes.

Thank you.  A merry Christmas to you all.
